One Film After Another: Paul Thomas Anderson

On the road to what promises to be his latest masterpiece, One Battle After Another, screening at The Tyneside from 26th September, we revisit one of the great figureheads of modern cinema - PTA.

A cerebral auteur with a penchant for ensemble casts, frequently collaborating with shimmering recurring talent (including Daniel Day Lewis, John C. Reilly, Julianne Moore and the late, much missed Philip Seymour Hoffman), his masterfully drawn, often sprawling storytelling meticulously realises period settings and richly drawn, complex characters with a seasoned precision and defined musicality like no one else in the industry.

Simply put, he remains The Master.
